Community Presbyterian Fall Fiesta

Fiesta is the time of celebration in September for Community. People return from vacation and mission duties and are in the mood for a picnic. There is even a birthday to celebrate. It was a comfortable day (unusual for the summer) in Sylvan Park, Redlands.

There was a special service at Community that day. Pastor Sylvia, Joe, and Helen Huntley had recently returned from a three week mission tour in Kenya (See the missions area of this site.). The slides Joe had taken were accompanied by scripture read by our three and others involved with the Kenya adventure. At the close of the service, Pastor Sylvia blessed the food for the Festival and we all took off for the park.
There were all kids of activities for the children at the Fiesta. One of the very popular was the giant soap bubble contest
There was face painting too!
And a Piñata.
Joe did his clown bit and created balloon animals for the children. Rumor has it that he doesn't need to put on makeup.
Then it was time to chow down. Notice that no one seems to be on a diet. Good tacos, burritos, salads and desserts were provided by Community families..
Picking a drink can be a serious decision by the little people. Good thing Grandma was there to help.
When it came time for dessert, we were lucky that Briana was having a birthday. The pieces of cake were very generous, and the icing was almost sinful. The birthday girl, herself, did the honors.
Of course when it was all over, we all slipped away and left the cleanup to Pastor Sylvia and Donna. Here are Joe and Sylvia wondering why the crowd is thinning out. It took them a while to realize they were being set up!
